Made Market at Gloucester Folk Museum - Saturday 11th August

I've not posted for a little while as a) it's the school holidays so I've been busy being Mum and b) I've been busy making things for the Made Market at Gloucester Folk Museum this Saturday 11th between 11am-3pm. Please come along and support their first market and my second!! I'm surrounded by buttons (although to be fair I always am!)

and trying to turn them into something else, like pictures

and brooches.

Buttons aside (though never far from my heart), I also like felt and, in particular, felt balls and I've made some felt trivets and felt coasters

Plus I'm still making...

So...another miserable day! Was thinking about going to the Medieval Fayre in Tewkesbury which is supposed to be excellent but the miserable, grey, cloudy day has put me off so we went to Asda for comfort food instead.  Yesterday, I held the weekly Crochet Club at mine, which for a non-cook like me can be a bit scary when everyone else is a superb cook and they knock up things like authentic Paella in an instant or some wonderous salad. Grrr. However, yesterday I think I surpassed myself! With a little help from my friend Terri, or supervision as she calls it, I knocked up an amazingly light and fluffy victoria sandwich cake. My first ever cake I have made. Go me! Here is a pic - hope your impressed!

And not only did I make the cake (with a little supervision!), I also made a roquefort and pear salad which, if I do say so myself, was very nice. Unfortunately I let the side down by shoving some un-homemade pizza and garlic bread at them. But hey, little steps.  I guess the truth will be in the cake if, and when, I make it without my friend Terri there.  Watch this space!

Dissertation...

Today I have been to see my tutor regarding my dissertation. Groan. I am dreading starting it. My dissertation subject, although I am yet to narrow it down more, is  Domestic Abuse - a subject I feel very passionate about.  Anyway, I have returned home with 5 books tucked under my arm to have read before my next meeting with my tutor in two weeks time! Aaagh! Was sooo looking forward to starting my 50 Shades of Grey book I bought on Saturday. Will maybe try and fit them all in...yeah right!...how many hours in a day?!

Moving on...
Here are some more photos of pictures I have made. I finished the Union Jack picture just in
time for the Winchcombe Jubilee Festival (think I may have forgotten to mention that I live in beautiful Cheltenham!) but didn't sell it, unfortunately. Hope you like them.

Hello and welcome to my blog...

My name is Geraldine and I'm a single mum of Poppy aged nine.  I'm currently studying Sociology at university but in my spare time (which isn't that much!) I like to crochet, attempt to sew (badly!) and make things with buttons.  Here are some of the things I have made (some of which I have sold unbelievably! Who'd have thought?!)...
